Founded in 1996, Middlesex Habitat for Humanity of CT, Inc. (MHFH) is an independently operated affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International, a non-profit 501(c)3, Christian, ecumenical housing ministry. Our sole mission is to build or renovate simple, decent, affordable houses in partnership with eligible families. Our objective is to eliminate substandard housing in Middlesex County, CT, one house at a time. We seek to make decent housing a matter of conscience and action. MHFH is an equal housing organization. We follow HUD guidelines and Habitat for Humanity International guidelines in our family selection process, considering those with the greatest need first. Partner families share in the building of their home by giving 200-400 hours of "sweat equity". Our partner families agree to repay the cost of their home to MHFH via a no-interest, no-profit mortgage. Middlesex Habitat for Humanity welcomes people of diverse backgrounds, beliefs, abilities, races, ethnicity, and sexual orientation to apply for a house or to serve as volunteers in the building process or on our board of directors or standing committees.
