We offer construction and non-construction volunteer opportunities for individuals, groups, and corporate team builds. Middlesex Habitat for Humanity is a volunteer-driven organization and we greatly appreciate everyone who serves with our Organization.

Our Volunteer Information Flyer
We do ask that all volunteers:
(1) Follow all safety and security guidelines
(2) Read and complete all necessary documents for volunteering
(3) Wear provided personal protection equipment if/when required
(4) Wear clothing that is comfortable and appropriate for performing labor-related activities
(5) Wear closed-toed shoes or boots with sufficient grip in the ReStore and at construction sites.
ReStore Volunteering – Store Open: Tues. – Sat., 10am – 4pm
- Customer service (cashier)
- Sorting, cleaning & storing items
- Maintain a clean, safe, and healthy environment
- Organize merchandise & furniture
- Load and unload merchandise
- Repair, retouch & assembling items
- Help other volunteers and staff
- Help create a friendly and welcoming environment
Construction Site / Home Build Volunteering – Open to the public: Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays, 9am – 4pm
- Working with hand and/or power tools
- Measure, cut, frame, and finish work
- Sanding, painting, and trim work
- Lifting and moving various construction materials
- Installation of windows, hardware, components, etc.
- Yard and landscaping work
- Work with other volunteers, staff, and home owner
- Travel to construction sites within Middlesex County
- Bring food/snack for break(s)
- Dress for construction related work
Office / Events / Special Projects Volunteering – Office hours: Mon. – Fri., 10am – 5pm (1-hour Slots)
- General office operations
- Research, Type, File & Print
- Input data, Run Reports, Mail & Email
- Use Microsoft and other software
- Make phone calls and support office staff
- Help research and setup for events
- Prepare materials and help brainstorm ideas
- Create a friendly and welcoming environment
Committee Volunteering – Committees meet regularly, either monthly or semi-monthly at a predetermined time. Please call (860) 398-6484 regarding joining a committee.
- Board of Directors: The Board of Directors is a governing body responsible for long-term planning, legal compliance, and the fiscal health of the organization, among other vital roles.
- Homeowner Services: The homeowner services committee is the heart of Middlesex Habitat for Humanity. Members meet with and interview applicants to our homeownership program and collectively decide on which applicant to accept into the program based on various factors.
- Resource Development: Members are responsible for creating the yearly fund development plan, donor support plan, strategizing for the future of Middlesex Habitat for Humanity, identifying resources, and recommending action to acquire the resources to raise funds and gift-in-kind donations from businesses, churches, individuals, foundations and through special events to support the Organization’s annual and long-range goals and objectives. Members work on donor retention and cultivation; participates in donor appreciation activities and building relationships with potential donors.
- Faith Based Relations: Members are responsible for working with local faith-based organizations to spread awareness of Middlesex Habitat for Humanity, its mission, and its impact.
- Finance: Members are responsible for reviewing the monthly financial statements, approving budgets, reviewing the annual financial statement audit, and guiding and advising the organization on fiscal matters.
- Governance: Members are responsible for assisting the Board in fulfilling its responsibilities with respect to matters relating to governance and policies of the Organization and identifying and recommending candidates to the Board
